El matrimonio se anula por consanguinidad y ella se casa unos meses más tarde con el entonces de 19 años Enrique Plantagenet, duque de Normandía y Conde de Anjou. Leonora genera un revuelo en contra de su infiel marido, pero Enrique somete a los aquitanos y Leonor acaba encerrada y sin poder destituir a su marido por uno de sus hijos en el trono. Enrique muere 15 años más tarde y su hijo Ricardo Corazón de León asume el reinado y libera a su madre. Más tarde su hijo y ella reconstituyen su asociación política.
